Naturopathic medicine is a distinct primary health care profession, emphasizing prevention, treatment, and optimal health through the use of therapeutic methods and substances that encourage individuals’ inherent self-healing process. The practice of naturopathic medicine includes modern and traditional, scientific, and empirical methods.

Naturopathic practice includes the following diagnostic and therapeutic modalities: clinical and laboratory diagnostic testing, nutritional medicine, botanical medicine, naturopathic physical medicine (including naturopathic manipulative therapy), public health measures, hygiene, counseling, minor surgery, homeopathy, acupuncture, prescription medication, intravenous and injection therapy, and naturopathic obstetrics (natural childbirth).

- House of Delegates Position Paper, Amended 2011

"I may have found my unicorn doctor. I feel safe, heard, and empowered. I came away from my first appointment with actionable steps I can take for improvement. I have never cried in front of a doctor before, but the safety I felt in Dr. Wallace's office let me open up, let my guard down, and be completely honest with her and myself. This included some tears, but that's okay, it's a good sign in my case. I am so grateful I finally listened to my intuition and those who recommended Dr. Wallace. I have found a truly beautiful human being and a gem of a doctor."

The following principles are the foundation of naturopathic medicine:

  1. The Healing Power of Nature (Vis Medicatrix Naturae): Naturopathic medicine recognizes an inherent self-healing process in people that is ordered and intelligent. Naturopathic physicians act to identify and remove obstacles to healing and recovery and to facilitate and augment this inherent self-healing process.
  2. Identify and Treat the Causes (ToIle Causam): The naturopathic physician seeks to identify and remove the underlying causes of illness rather than to merely eliminate or suppress symptoms.
  3. First Do No Harm (Primum Non Nocere):
    1. Naturopathic physicians follow three guidelines to avoid harming the patient:
      1. Utilize methods and medicinal substances which minimize the risk of harmful side effects, using the least force necessary to diagnose and treat;
      2. Avoid when possible the harmful suppression of symptoms; and
      3. Acknowledge, respect, and work with individuals’ self-healing process.
  4. Doctor as Teacher (Docere): Naturopathic physicians educate their patients and encourage self-responsibility for health. They also recognize and employ the therapeutic potential of the doctor-patient relationship.
  5. Treat the Whole Person: Naturopathic physicians treat each patient by taking into account individual physical, mental, emotional, genetic, environmental, social, spiritual and other factors.
  6. Prevention: Naturopathic physicians emphasize the prevention of disease by assessing risk factors, heredity and susceptibility to disease, and by making appropriate interventions in partnership with their patients to prevent illness.

"Dr. Wallace has provided the greatest gift to me: support and confidence to look within and feel what's inside. She has led me through several transitions that symptomatically appeared as physical...she helped me process and tap in and eventually release emotionally. Everyone needs some Dr Wallace in their life!"

- Auia Justine

"I first contacted Aubrey about 4 years ago when we switched our little boy over to cow's milk. He was having a tough time, physically, with that transition, and over the phone she was able to get his system moving again.... Everything she tells me is spot on, helpful, eye-opening and speaks to me on a visceral level."
