Winds of Change

The mountains are out today

Found their way through the smoke.

Five birds overhead

Pushing hard to find their V for ease.

Changes have come

No denying it now.

Waves of grief crash

And ebb, without any new story.

Action and reaction,

Kept present by the world’s demands.

I check my Inner Compass*

Yep, this path—full steam ahead.

Am I okay?

A little sad and scared, but yes.

On the outside, life appears

In old familiar patterns I usually resist.

Inside—I bring my focus to

A tiny still point in the center of my heart

I become a prism

Through which the light can dance.

I am perfect and free

Just as I am.

The winds of change

Can’t blow out this light.
