What I See, What You See
Feb 06, 2022When I look at you
What am I seeing?
Do I see you
Or what I expect you to be?
My brain paints a picture
And seeks evidence to make it real.
How much of all that you are
Will I completely miss?
I see beauty, strength, and wisdom.
You shine and blossom before me.
I see fear, insecurity, and judgment.
Your eyebrows crinkle, you get heavy, and pull away.
How much of what you are feeling
Is being influenced by what I am seeing?
~
How do you see me?
Am I what you expect me to be?
Does what you are thinking
Push me to be someone else?
There are so many ways to be
And so many things to see.
How do I know which
Is the MOST real, the MOST me?
~
Can we change what I see, what you see
To what we would like them to be?
Where two or more are gathered, who are we?
There will I be in the midst of them-even so am I in the midst of you.*
