Judgments rattle around in my head.
Thick ball in my throat.
Huge waves on the lake,
Echo my lack of inner stillness.
So easy to feel justified
In my anger toward this “how it is.”
I break into a run,
Myles pulling hard at the leash.
This fire can burn
Those I love most.
A buddhist saying comes to mind,
“Is that so?”
IS this “how it is?”
What do I want it to be?
The fire is already burning in me,
No hiding, it must be addressed.
I slow down and anchor myself.
The wind stills as my heart opens up.
Words have impact.
To connect or divide.
My heart feels clear and true
It’s my throat resisting and my mind afraid.
Speak Up, Aubrey.
Use your words to lift this fear.
