Looking Up

Hail storm this morning
Too wet to walk the dog early
Grateful for the garage
And a few more moments of sleep.
Clouds were heavy after the storm
Chilly and grey forest.
The stream rushing fast
Filling the air with a waterfall song.
Lake surface dark and still
Suddenly—changing to blue near my feet.
The reflection of a patch of blue sky above
Appearing behind a fast moving ominous cloud.
Within moments the full majestic sky
Is revealed.
Geese flowing in and out of their V
Far above the storms below.
On my way home, the clear sky
Accents the fall trees so beautifully.
Just a moment ago
This was a different forest.

I looked up.
