Life can get
Kinda heavy sometimes.
Past experience can
Weigh us down.
Maybe we can’t discern

Out of our control.
When I am weighing
My vegetables on a scale,
I have to push the TARE button
And reset the scale to zero,
To account for the weight
Of the container holding them.
Maybe life could be
More like that.
Allowing ourselves a reset,
To account for our containers.
Setting us back to zero.
And ready to measure more precisely,
Exactly how heavy
This moment really is.
