Our skin is
Magnificent.
A sun-charged, waterproof,
self-repairing boundary—
Available in so many
delicious colors.
Skin defines
the OUTside of us.
It lets us sense
the external world.
And it’s how we are so quickly
categorized
(as if color
could ever define worth).
Yet skin also reveals
what’s happening on the INside.
Its color, temperature,
and moisture shift.
It can swell, itch, flake, crack,
bleed, or turn oily and bumpy.
Sometimes it becomes
a billboard—
broadcasting truths
we cannot hide.
How are you, my love?
Is your boundary holding strong?
Do you need a tender reminder
that you are not alone?
You were never designed
to be fully met through a screen.
What about:
A strong, warm hand.
Cool water rushing over your face.
Earth between your toes.
A furry snuggle against your heart.
Sunlight on your skin.
Skin touching skin.
How are you choosing
to spend your precious time?
Are you only your mind?
Or something much more—
