Our experiences can be
Held like an ocean.
Each moment, memory, pain,
Recorded on the waters.
When our life is flowing
We notice the files and keep moving.
If we experience some stormy weather,
Our waves can get pretty high.
After the surges and crashes,
We calm as the tide goes back out.
Some experiences leave us ice cold,
Creating glaciers of stagnation.
We can feel those waters in our bodies,
As pain, pressure, stuckness, or fatigue.
If we focus on the glacial sensations,
They open memories—felt as emotions.
Those emotions help our glaciers begin to crack,
Returning their waters to the flow.
It can be chilly, hard, and intense.
Hope you can hold someone’s hand.
After the ice breaks up though,
Life starts gradually flowing again.
And, before you know it,
You are right back to business.
