Eye of the Sun
Sep 27, 2021The earth has begun it’s tip away
The shadow of fall has begun.
Longing to stay snuggled
In the warmth of my bed.
There was a storm last night
Tearing branches from limbs.
Once something is broken
There is no going back.
Swimmers on the lake pushing hard
To overcome the choppy waves.
Dark grey clouds moving fast
Obscuring the soft pink sky above.
The wind has created a figure eight
Out of pine needles in the dust.
Or is it an infinity sign
Reminding me of what else is possible?
I feel the magnitude of the sun
Keeping his eye on the earth.
Even as she turns her back to him
And takes her time in sweet darkness.
She has received his touch
And stored it safely in her waters.
Taking her time to let go, rest and be still
So the new can birth through her in the spring.
Maybe this is enough to feel today,
This dance played out over eons.
It has already effected me.
I willingly embrace this next refrain.
